Barcelona defender, Sergio Akieme has joined Spanish club Almeria on loan for the rest of the season.
The young left back is Almeria’s 12th summer signing and he arrived on loan from the Catalans but there is an option in the contract that can make the deal permanent at the end of this season.
At 22 years old, the left-back has speed and a willingness to get forward, playing a starring role with Barcelona B last campaign.
Almeria released an official statement on their website to announce Sergio Akieme’s move from Barcelona.
“Sergio Akieme becomes the twelfth signing of UD Almería for the 2020/21 season, the fourteenth if we take into account Maras and Fran Villalba,” the club stated.
“The new Rojiblanco player arrives on loan from FC Barcelona, although Almeria will have an option to buy the player.
“He has been a highly sought-after left-back in the summer transfer window. In point of fact, there have been several clubs including those competing in the top-flight, who have been especially interested in his signing, although Almería have been the one able to complete the deal in the end.”
