At least 50 injured (Update)

 

An update on the gas tanker that exploded at the Ifako-Ijaiye area of Lagos state, has revealed that at least 50 people have been left injured by the unfortunate incident.

The incident occurred on the 24th of September 2020, leaving many persons with burn injuries.

According to the Director-General of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, Dr Olufemi Damilola Oke-Osanyintolu, who confirmed the incident to Channels Television, efforts are being made to put out the resulting fire from the explosion.

On Twitter, the emergency agency asked Lagosians to remain calm.

According to LASEMA investigations, an unknown truck conveying gasoline had a lone accident and exploded. The agency said;

“Situation Report on the Gas Explosion at Cele Bus stop Iju Ishaga.

On the arrival of the Tiger Squad, Alausa Secretariet at the scene, it was discovered that there was a gas explosion at the aforementioned address.
Further investigation gathered revealed that an unknown truck conveying Gasoline had a lone accident and exploded.

The impact of the explosion led to fire on adjoining buildings and several vehicles burnt. Several persons were injured and have been taken to the nearest hospital for treatment.

The inferno is being battled by the combined efforts of LASEMA Responders and Fire Team, LASG Fire Service, Nigeria Police Force and NSCDC. Dampening down ongoing.
