Announcing the outcome of the event which held Sunday 20th October 2024 at Whelan Research Academy Owerri, the Chairman, Association of Nigerian Authors, Imo State Chapter posted on his official Facebook handle:
It was a bliss yesterday at Association of Nigerian Authors Imo State Chapter where writers gathered to participate in ANA Imo/Osinachi Emeghara literary prize (Short story) for October edition. The runners up are as follows:
Deborah Chinonyerem Uzoma : 1st position
Sylvester Nwokedi: 2nd position
Paul Otumbadi ; 3rd position
Mark Irechukwu: 4th position
In drift, we warmly congratulate Deborah Uzoma for emerging as the overall winner in the contest. Its worthy to note that having your name among the shortlist in ANA Imo contest is the same as letting the Camel pass through the eyes of a needle as best among contemporary writers live among us.
Tons of thanks to the judge, Sir Chidozie Chukwubuike for his untold professionalism. He once again established himself as a contemporary literary critique. His meticulous judgement would be published in folds after now. Certificates of merit shall be issued to this effect.

I am excited to announce that my short story titled “Seventeen Years After” has emerged as the winner of 🏆Mr. Osinachi Collins Emeghara ANA Imo Prize for Literature (Fiction).
The announcement was made this evening at the Association of Nigerian Authors, ANA, Imo’s Reading.
I am super grateful to Almighty God for blessing me with the gift of writing and inspiring this piece within the shortest time of the deadline.
My sincere appreciation goes to Mr. Collins Osinachi Emeghara for his generosity in endowing this award. I also thank my writers’ family, ANA Imo, and everyone who has supported my literary journey especially my teachers from cradle to till now.
Thanks to my brother, Pastor Joe, Last Born .His prayers and assurance of my win, even before I began writing, was a beacon of motivation.
