NIGERIA-DIASPORA WATCH: Zik Shines, Wins Most Valuable Player of the Year, Earns Trojan Helmet

Zik Ebube Dike Dikeukwu has shown his glistening basketball prowess once more as his magical performance stole the limelight while representing his Strathcona Tweedsmuir School (STS) in a recent Inter School Invitational Tournament held at Drumheller, Alberta, Canada.

The Nigerian-Canadian athlete once again showcased the stuff he is made of as he thoroughly dominated the proceedings in the tournament, and throughout the year. For these star performances, he won the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the year and earns the Trojan Helmet for keeps until next person is voted MVP. (It doesn’t even look like Zik is dropping off the radar any soon as he’s determined to retain the trophy for much longer!)

Zik Ebube Dike, who is the son of a popular Nigerian medical doctor, the very sagacious Swagdoc, Dr Robert Anayo Dikeukwu, resident in Canada, has attracted attention to himself by dint of dedication to the sports, uncommon brilliance, and recourse to rules of the game, earning him such comparisons as “the next Michael Jordan”.

While Zik’s exploits have been highlighted by his humble, respectful, intelligent, focused and hardworking nature, characteristics projecting him for Penn State University, the fans in Nigeria are already eager, raring, raising toasts for a time in the nearest future when Zik shall lead a harvest of accolades, while adorning the colours of D’Tigers, a wish for which these fans are willing to suspend their breathes until they see it materialize.

We wish the prodigy all the best of luck, excellent career ahead, devoid of injuries and unforseen setbacks. He shall go out there and win and make his family and all his fans proud.

Go Zik!
