As reported by The Punch, the incident happened when the plane was trying to land under a very high rainfall at about 6:48 p.m.

A source, who spoke on condition of anonymity said the Airfield was temporarily closed but reopened at 8:10 p.m.

“At about 20:00hrs, passengers were evacuated from the affected aircraft, with no casualty.”

confirms United Nigerian aircraft skids off runway

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) on X (formerly Twitter) confirmed the incident in a -deleted tweet.

NEMA said all the 51 passengers and four crew members onboard were successfully evacuated without casualty.

“A United Nigerian 51 passengers and 4 Crew with registration number 5NBWY skidded off the local runway while trying to land under a very high rainfall at about 1848 hours.

“All passengers evacuated successfully without casualty The airspace has been opened for operations now,”

Nigerian passenger dies aboard Egypt Air

Meanwhile, reported that a young Nigerian lady has been hit with an untimely death.

The young woman reportedly died aboard an Egypt Air on her way to , United Kingdom.

The lady, whose name is withheld, was said to have left for on board Egypt Air MS 876 flight to Cairo on Monday, September 4, through the Murtala Muhammad International Airport (MMIA), Lagos when she died on board.

Tension as plane crashes in Lagos capital

There is tension in Lagos capital, Ikeja, Oba Akran, as a small aircraft reported crashed in the area and went into flames on Tuesday afternoon.

The aircraft cannot be easily identified, but eyewitness says the fate of the passengers was yet to be known.

The report added the incident happened on the busy road of the Oba Akran, to a opposite a bank.
