Prince Ezeala Ferdinand Akano to be honoured as grand Ambassador of Global IMSU Alumni
……. Ebonyi Governor Nwifuru to grace the 2024 Global Convention
Activities are underway for the convergence of all Alumni of Imo State University, Owerri under the auspices of Global IMSU Graduates Alumni, as it holds her annual Global Convention at the International Conference Center, Abakaliki, the Capital of Ebonyi State.
His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Bldr. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, Executive Governor of Ebonyi State is expected to declare the Convention open as Special Guest of Honour.
Former President of the Alumni Association, Prince Ezeala Ferdinand Akano is expected to be inducted as the Grand Ambassador of the Global IMSU Alumni, because of his pioneering roles in leading the Association and placing it on the world map. In a letter made available to our correspondents, signed by the Global President, Dr. Anayo Uhiara and Global Secretary, Dr. Uzoma Diala-Asuquo, on behalf of the Global Executive Council, Board of Trustees led by Amb. Patrick Akushie (Chairman of the Board) and members of the Association, Prince Ezeala Ferdinand Akano “has been nominated for this exalted position because of your leadership capabilities and for instituting the College of Ambassadors in our Alumni, for fostering AlumniSpirit and Relationship…”
Prof. Ezeanyika Samuel Ezeanyika the Head of the Department of Political Science, Imo State University, Owerri, will be the Guest Lecturer on the theme: Role of Alumni Associations in Promoting Social Change: Attributes, Practices and Impact. It is also expected that a former Vice Chancellor of Imo State University, Owerri, Prof. Innocent Chuka Okonkwo will be honoured with an outstanding Life Time Achievers Award by the Global IMSU Graduates Alumni, while the current Vice Chancellor, Prof. Uchefula Ugonna Chukwumaeze, SAN, will be the Guest of Honour. Other Special Guests will include: Rt. Hon. Amarachi Iwuanyanwu, Deputy Speaker, Imo State House of Assembly; Rt. Hon. Kingsley Ogbonna Ikoro of the Ebonyi State House of Assembly; High Chief Johnbosco Ozigbu, PhD; High Chief (Dr) Michael Onuoha; Hon. Engr. Ikenna Anthony Adikibe; Chief Paul Chijioke Duru; Hon. Evang. Chika Okoroike; High Chief Bright Chimezie Njoku; Comrade Ifeanyi Nwanguma, JP, and some others.
The annual Global Convention is a yearly ritual of all Alumni of Imo State University, Owerri, who have subscribed to the membership of the Global IMSU Graduates Alumni. It is an opportunity for Imo State University, Owerri graduates to come together and unwind, network, brainstorm, socialise and chart ways forward towards helping the development of Imo State University, Owerri and fostering camaraderie and business networks among the Alumni from different works of life.
The Global Vice President, Hon. Amb. Temple Nwankwo; Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Amb. Patrick Akushie, Secretary of the Board, Chief Amb. Barr. Paschal Onwukaike, other members of the Association have all confirmed their attendance as at the time of filing this report. It is expected that over 500 members of the Alumni of Imo State University, Owerri will be in attendance, according to reports by the Chairman of the Global Convention Planning Committee, Amb. Dr. Prisca Bob.
A series of events and activities have been lined up for this annual fiesta and gathering of Stars, including but not limited to: business exhibition and entrepreneurship development program, different categories of awards to distinguished Alumni and members of the society, picnics, networking.
