Upholds Adeola's Election as West Senator

The National /House of Assembly Election Petition Tribubal  sitting in Abeokuta, the State capital, has affirmed  the return of  the senator representing Ogun West,  Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in the February 25, 2023 Election.

The judgment in the petition marked  EPT/OG/Sen/2023 and filed by the Peoples Democratic Party () Senatorial Candidate, Chief Dada Ganiu Adeleke,  was delivered by Justice Kabir Gabo – led three-man panel.

The panel dismissed Adeleke's petition for ‘lacking in merit' The panel also held that two witnesses called by the petitioner failed to give  valid evidence to substantiate the allegations of the election not meeting electoral act and constitutional requirements as well as manual voting procedure.

According to the panel, the prayer of the petitioner that the victory of Adeola be declared null, void and of no consequence, could not stand or be granted due to its lack of merit.

In the February 25 election, Adeola, polled a total of 112,887 votes to defeat Adeleke, who scored 60,189, while the candidate came third with a total vote of 19, 244.
